The Earth doesn’t charge any of us rent. She isn’t asking for anything in exchange for the air you breath or the body you are walking around in. She gave it to you freely, as a gift.
Give thanks to your Mother Earth. Make a spiritual payment to show your gratitude and demonstrate your thankfulness for what the grandmother gifted you with. A spiritual payment can be as simple as taking your favorite crystal into the woods and burying it under a tree. Or you can write a song for Mother Earth and go sing it to her in nature. You could give up watching TV for a week, or renounce negative thoughts for some period of time.
What’s important is that it costs you. If you already meditate every day and you just devote a weeks meditation practices to the Earth, then that doesn’t count. It needs to be out of the norm for you and require some amount of mental fortitude to do it.

Some nice ideas:
- Create a piece of art with beads and string, cultivating your thoughts with gratefulness and compassion as you place each bead. Then take the art into nature and bury it beneath a tree, giving thanks.
- Give up something valuable and enjoyable for a week such as: watching tv, scrolling on your phone, etc.
- Fast from food for a day or two, or through an intermittent fast for a more extended period of time.
- Commit some hours to community service and helping those in need.
Remember why you are doing these spiritual payments while you are doing them, and give thanks to your Mother Earth and nature for all that you have received.
Engaging in these acts of gratitude not only honors the Earth but also deepens your connection to the natural world. By stepping out of your routine and making a deliberate effort to give back, you become more attuned to the rhythms and cycles of nature. This practice can foster a sense of balance and harmony within yourself, as you acknowledge the abundance that surrounds you and the fundamental interdependence between all living beings. It’s a way of grounding yourself in the present moment and recognizing the sacredness of life.
Moreover, these spiritual payments can serve as a powerful reminder of the values and principles you hold dear. They encourage mindfulness and intentionality in your daily actions, helping you to cultivate a lifestyle that is aligned with your deeper beliefs and aspirations. By regularly making these offerings, you reinforce your commitment to living in a way that respects and honors the Earth. This ongoing practice of gratitude and reciprocity can lead to profound personal growth and transformation, enriching your life with purpose and meaning.
